Fox Sports renders World Cup studio graphics with Pixotope

Fox Sports built its 2026 FIFA World Cup studio coverage around Studio B, a Planar LED volume that runs 54 million pixels driven by 32 Pixotope XR engines.

Across a group stage that reached six matches a day, the graphics team used Pixotope for real-time rendering, integrating augmented and extended reality elements directly into the set architecture rather than floating them on top of the video layer.

Zac Fields, Fox Sports' SVP of Graphic Technology and Integration, described how operators can toggle the entire set into full AR, flying cameras through a virtual environment and building out elements for matches days in advance. SVG Magazine went inside the operation to see how the team delivers this volume of AR and XR content across long broadcast days.
