Oslo, Norway – August 19th, 2025 – Phoenix TV Beijing has completed the installation of Pixotope Graphics for virtual studios and augmented reality, joining other major Chinese broadcasters in adopting modern virtual production capabilities.
Following a competitive public tender process, Pixotope was selected to provide a comprehensive software-based virtual production solution tailored to the broadcaster’s evolving creative and technical needs.
The installation required three days to complete and was finalized in late July 2025.
Phoenix TV Beijing joins other leading Chinese broadcasters including CCTV, Hunan TV, ChongQing TV, ShenZhen TV etc. in selecting Pixotope for their virtual production needs.
The system supports the broadcaster's core programming requirements including news broadcasts, dialogue programs, and interview segments.
The deployment includes three high-performance Pixotope Graphics rendering workstations housed in Phoenix TV Beijing’s centralized control room. These systems simultaneously power two fully equipped green screen studios and enables shared processing resources and real-time virtual set switching.
This upgrade marks the broadcaster’s shift from proprietary hardware systems to a more flexible, Unreal Engine-based workflow that fully integrates with its existing broadcast infrastructure.
The system supports a variety of programming formats including live news, panel discussions, and in-depth interviews.
Thanks to Pixotope Graphics, Phoenix TV Beijing's creative teams can instantly generate and switch between custom-designed virtual environments in real time. Directors gain access to an unlimited library of virtual sets, while producers can deliver content that previously required complex physical set builds - significantly reducing production timelines and costs.
