Pixotope Brings Its Entire Technology Stack onto One Platform

Written by Pixotope | Aug 31, 2026, 7:00:01 AM

Pixotope Technologies AS today announced its unified platform, offering full access to all Pixotope capabilities in three editions. The consolidation is designed to give virtual production teams confidence in a reliable, complete solution that supports their best work.

"Customers have historically bought virtual production tools one at a time, weighing which parts they could justify,"  said Marcus B. Brodersen, CEO of Pixotope. "That held them back, which held us back. Pixotope does well when virtual production does well, so we have stopped selling parts. Whatever first brought a customer to us, whether it was our XR solution or our unique through-the-lens tracking, they now have all of it on one platform. We would rather they have access to the tools they need, when they need them, than ration them."

Built as One Platform

With 26.3, Pixotope Zone - the video-based tracking system for sports venues- moves onto Windows OS and into the same platform and interface as the rest of Pixotope. A capability that once ran on its own platform now runs where everything else does, controlled the same way. It is the first delivery of a deeper effort: bringing every part of Pixotope under one technical platform and one unified user interface.

Three Editions

Pixotope Discovery is free to download and run, offering the platform in a feature-limited, HD configuration with no licensing step required - ideal for learning, evaluating, teaching, and demonstrating before any commitment.

Pixotope Core is the complete production platform for virtual studio and augmented reality work, bringing together live broadcast video, chroma keying, the full operational layer, Artist design seats, and camera tracking for any scenario in one edition.

Pixotope Max is built for enterprise broadcast. It includes everything in Core and adds Videowall and XR capabilities, server redundancy, IP video, and the advanced compositing and integration that large broadcast operations rely on - the edition for facilities producing the most demanding virtual content at scale.

Open by Design

Pixotope integrates seamlessly with existing graphics and camera tracking systems through an extensive protocol library, including the open standard OpenTrackIO, alongside a comprehensive open API and free SDK.

Rendering, Today and in the Future

Pixotope uses a custom broadcast-hardened version of Unreal Engine for rendering, which remains at the heart of how the most ambitious content is made. With Pixotope 26.3, the platform introduces the ability to render and control HTML graphics, directly and through OGraf, from the same control surface that drives everything else. Looking ahead, rendering will continue to advance - whether through Gaussian splats, path tracing, or methods not yet invented. Pixotope's role is to make whatever draws the picture reliable for live broadcast, so the people producing the show can have control and confidence in the results.

Existing Customers

Customers already with Pixotope keep what they have. Existing Maintenance and Support agreements can continue under their current terms, along with the updates and services they provide. Customers who want to move onto the platform and gain the added benefits it provides will have the option to do so.

Existing subscription customers move into the new editions automatically, at their current price. Anyone on AR, Virtual Studio, Vision, or Fly transitions to Core. Anyone on XR transitions to Max. In both cases, the price holds, and the customer gains the full edition rather than the single capability they came in on.

Availability

Discovery, Core, and Max arrive together with Pixotope 26.3 in Q3 2026, the same release that brings Pixotope Zone tracking to Windows.

"We are removing every reason a team would settle for less than its best work," said Brodersen. "Give people the whole platform, keep it open, keep it moving as technology moves, and stay beside them when it matters, so they go virtual with confidence. That serves them, and it serves us."
